Authenticity in relationships fosters trust, deepe Authenticity in relationships fosters trust, deepens connections, and enhances communication. It allows individuals to express their true selves without fear of judgment, allowing for genuine interactions. This openness creates mutual respect and understanding which is essential for healthy, sustainable relationships.

The willingness to be vulnerable with what lives inside our hearts invites the other person to hold our truth while feeling safe enough to express their own. Authenticity also helps in aligning expectations and building a strong emotional bond, as each person has the experience of being seen and valued for who they truly are.

How has authenticity has impacted your relationships?

When I say "pain isn't personal," I'm referring to When I say "pain isn't personal," I'm referring to the idea that the suffering we experience often stems from our thoughts and expectations about how things should be, rather than the actual events themselves. It's about recognizing that pain is a universal human experience, and it's not a reflection of our worth or a personal failing.

For instance, when we feel pain, it can be easy to think that it's a direct result of someone else's actions or that it's a unique burden we alone must bear. However, pain often arises from unmet needs or unfulfilled expectations. By understanding this, we can start to see pain as a signal pointing us towards those unmet needs, rather than a personal attack or a sign of weakness.

How does the concept of pain not being personal resonate with you in your own experiences?

Who are the Jackal and the Giraffe?
CHARACTERISTICS OF A RED THINKER
What they say and do is feeling or emotion based. They navigate life through the guidance of emotions. They attune to other people's feelings.

They can be kinesthetic. They are connected to their bodies. They like movement.

IN COMMUNICATION
They have an emotional interpersonal quality. They relate with personal stories and details. They decorate conversations to help you relate to it as much as possible. They talk about how something made them feel. They relate emotion to the circumstance.

THEY ENJOY
Connection, Community, To be needed, To matter, and Shared experiences.

CHALLENGES
Getting their needs met while meeting other people's needs. May identify as a "people pleaser" where they sacrifice their needs in order to please others or to matter or to stay safe and emotionally secure. Finding balance between caring for themselves and caring for others. They can take things personally.

SUPERPOWERS
Compassion. Understanding. Relatability. Connection. Networking to connect and include people. Mindful about how people feel and what they need. Have a lot of consideration and awareness about others.
Recognizing a Red Thinker
Empathologie is the study of empathy. It is the science of learning how to listen and speak from the heart instead of the head and how to bridge the gap between judgment and criticism to connection and compassion. When we listen with our hearts we're able to empathize with what's alive inside the other person and connect to their needs and their emotions in a non-judgmental human way that hopefully reduces conflict and nurtures connection.

There are lots of ways to approach Empathologie. It's all about learning to strengthen a new muscle and begin to see things through a different filter. One of kindness and compassion and understanding of shared humanity about how we all share common needs and that it's our birthright to get them met. When we remember that, it helps us lean in from a place of giving rather than a place of judging and from there magic happens.

That's the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Empathologie. There are lots of ways to navigate the different scenarios and the different paths to get there but ultimately it helps us depersonalize and neutralize language and behavior which brings us back to our culture of connection and giving and supporting one another which hopefully makes the world a better place.
What is Empathologie?
Journaling is a powerful healing modality. By journaling with your "jackal" you allow yourself to express all of your unfiltered thoughts and feelings. Then you can go through your jackal words and give yourself "giraffe" empathy for the feelings and needs you expressed. Through this strategy you will be able to give yourself love and meet your need without being dependent on someone else to meet your need to be heard.
